Starting a new life away from where you used to live is a new whole way to live its an entirly new enviorment theres new weather. and you have to make a new house also.

settlers just started to build a rail road tracks and trains in the west. railroads were the best way to travel then cause they were fast and could move lots of cargo. they made it easier to get materials to build a house or drill a well or to get farming supplies they could also make it easier to travel so more people could find more land to buy. or as soon as you harvested some crops they had to be set out so you could make your money to survive for the winter. others way they could travel is buy horse which would take way longer then taking the train it would also not carry not as much luggage or supplies. they would run into problems like they have to feed the horse take care of it or it will just die or not be strong enough to move your supplies.
