How They Got The Land.

Well they had to make a few things one the land they got. Because when they bought the land it would be undeveloped land there would be nothing on there. plus the government would make them build there own.

1.) house most of the time you would have to build houses out very limited earths resources of what you have in your land you got 
2.) well (for water)
3.) an plow at least 10 acres of there own land.
If they didn't do this the government wouldn't let them live there also if they didn't do this they wouldn't be able to survive.


The homesteaders were only allowed to get 160 acres of land and no more then that you couldn't get extra or pay for another 160 acres.

Land In The West 

places in the west like california was to expensive to get land for some settlers so they would have to buy land in bad areas were crops could barley grow but a family was stuck with the 160 acres they got and they had to farm there for 5 years.
